Friends of Jesus
John 15:15
"I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you."
In this passage, Jesus shifts the relationship between Himself and His disciples from one of master and servant to one of friendship. This significant change highlights the intimate and personal nature of our relationship with Christ. As friends of Jesus, we are invited into a deeper understanding of His heart and mission.
Understanding Friendship with Jesus
Intimacy and Knowledge
Friendship with Jesus involves intimacy and knowledge. Unlike a servant who may not fully understand his master’s plans, a friend is privy to the master's thoughts and intentions. Jesus shares with us the wisdom and knowledge He received from the Father, inviting us into a closer relationship with Him.
Significance of Being Friends of Jesus
Shared Purpose
As friends of Jesus, we share in His purpose and mission. This relationship means we are not just followers but partners in His work. We are called to understand His teachings and apply them in our lives, participating in His mission to bring God's love and truth to the world.
"You are my friends if you do what I command." — John 15:14
