Our Refuge in God's Justice
Jeremiah 41:10-11
"Ishmael made captives of all the rest of the people who were in Mizpah—the king's daughters along with all the others who were left there, over whom Nebuzaradan, commander of the imperial guard, had appointed Gedaliah son of Ahikam. But when Johanan son of Kareah and all the army officers who were with him heard about all the crimes Ishmael son of Nethaniah had committed, they took all their men and went to fight Ishmael son of Nethaniah. They caught up with him near the great pool in Gibeon."
In this passage, we see the aftermath of Ishmael's treachery and the resulting turmoil. Despite the chaos, Johanan's response to fight against the injustice highlights the importance of trusting in God's justice. This story reminds us that in times of turmoil, we can find refuge in God's righteous judgment.
Understanding God's Justice
Righteous Judgment
God's justice is perfect and righteous. He sees every act of injustice and promises to bring about His righteous judgment. Trusting in God's justice means believing that He will ultimately right all wrongs and uphold righteousness. This trust provides a refuge and a sense of peace, even in the midst of turmoil.
Finding Peace in Turmoil
God's Assurance
The story of Johanan's pursuit of justice amidst Ishmael's crimes serves as a reminder that God's justice prevails. In our own lives, we may face situations of injustice and turmoil, but we can find peace and assurance in knowing that God is in control and His justice will ultimately prevail.

"For the LORD is righteous, he loves justice; the upright will see his face." — Psalm 11:7

Living in the Refuge of God's Justice
Daily Trust
Living in the refuge of God's justice involves daily trusting in His righteous judgment. It means surrendering our fears and frustrations to Him, believing that He is working for our good and the good of others. As we trust in His justice, we experience peace and confidence, knowing that God is always with us and will never forsake us.
As we reflect on the story in Jeremiah 41, let us embrace God's justice and live in the peace and assurance that come from trusting in His righteous judgment.
