The Word Became Flesh
John 1:1-5
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."
The opening verses of John introduce us to the profound truth of the Word becoming flesh. Jesus Christ, the eternal Word, was with God from the beginning and is Himself God. He is the source of life and light, shining in the darkness and offering hope to all.
Understanding the Incarnation
God Becoming Man
The incarnation is the miraculous event where God became man in the person of Jesus Christ. This act of divine love bridges the gap between humanity and God, offering us a way to know Him intimately. Jesus, fully God and fully man, lived among us, revealing the character and heart of God.
Significance of Jesus as the Light
Hope in Darkness
Jesus being the Light means He brings truth, clarity, and hope into our lives. In a world often filled with darkness and confusion, His light guides us and illuminates the path to eternal life. The darkness cannot overcome this light, symbolizing the victory of Christ over sin and death.
"The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world." — John 1:9
