“Do not give the devil a foothold.”
Ephesians 4:27 (NLT):
“Don’t give the devil an opportunity.”
Devotional Thought
The enemy does not always need a doorway. A foothold is enough.
A foothold can be resentment that you refuse to release. A foothold can be secret sin you keep excusing. A foothold can be exhaustion that leads to carelessness. A foothold can be unchecked desire that keeps growing.
God calls men to close the door quickly. Not tomorrow. Tonight.
This evening, identify one foothold and deal with it honestly. Confess to God. Cut off the source. Ask for accountability if needed. Replace the habit with something holy.
Ask yourself tonight. Where have I been leaving room for the enemy? What compromise have I been tolerating? What would it look like to close that door before I sleep?
Christ is stronger than every scheme. But you must refuse the foothold.
Questions to Consider
- Where have I been leaving room for the enemy?
- What compromise have I been tolerating?
- What would it look like to close that door before I sleep?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, reveal any foothold I have given to the enemy. Forgive me for compromise and strengthen me to close the door tonight. Renew my mind, guard my heart, and help me walk in holiness with courage and joy. Keep me alert and steady in Christ. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Encouragement for Tonight
You are not defenseless. In Christ, you are forgiven, empowered, and secure. You can resist and stand firm.
