Scripture for This Morning
1 Timothy 4:16 (NIV):
“Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.”
Devotional Thought
Paul does not separate character from theology. He binds them together.
Doctrine without integrity collapses. Integrity without sound doctrine drifts.
To “watch” is to stay alert. To examine. To guard.
A man who leads, whether in his home, church, or workplace, must guard both what he believes and how he lives. Your life interprets your doctrine. Your doctrine shapes your life.
Neglect either one, and influence weakens. Leadership begins with vigilance.
Questions to Consider
- Is my conduct aligned with the truth I profess?
- Am I careful with what I believe and how I live?
- Where do I need renewed vigilance in doctrine or character?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me watch my life and doctrine closely. Guard me from inconsistency and error. Strengthen me to lead with integrity and truth. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Encouragement for This Morning
God strengthens leaders who guard both truth and character. Steady vigilance preserves lasting influence.
