The Scripture
The Bible, consisting of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is plenary (completely) and verbally inspired, is inerrant in the original writings, and is of supreme and final authority in faith and life.( Dt.18:20; Ezek. 1:3; Ex. 24:4; 2 Sam.23:1-2; 2 Tim 3:16; 2 Pet. 1:21-20; 3:15-18; 1 Cor. 2:10-13; Matt. 5:18; 24:35; Jn. 10:35.)
God
There is one Triune God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, identical in essence, equal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections. ( Deut. 6:4; Gen. 1:1-2; 1 Kings 8:27; Ps 147:5; Matt. 28:18-19; Jn. 1:1-4; Heb. 1:8; Micah 5:2; Acts 5:3-4.)
God the Father
God the Father is a person separate from the Son and Spirit, invisible to man in this life. He has a personal relationship with each believer as Father. ( Jn 3:16; 10:30; 17:21; Rom. 1:3-4; Eph. 1:3; Jn. 15:26; Rom. 8:14-16; 1 Peter 1:17.)
God the Son
The eternal Son of God became incarnate, uniting God and man in one person, Jesus Christ; He was conceived of the Holy Spirit; born of the Virgin Mary; filled by the Spirit in His earthly ministry; revealed the Father in His person, word and works; provided salvation by His bodily resurrection; ascended bodily into heaven where He ministers as our high priest in intercession and advocacy, and saves all who come to Him in repentance and faith. He is to return imminently for His Body, the Church, prior to the seven-years tribulation yet to come, and will return for a thousand-year reign over Israel and the nations, His reign to begin shortly after the tribulation period. (Acts 9:1-11; 3:19-21; 15:14-18; Col. 1:15; Jn. 1:13-14; 8:18-19; 14:6-16; 17:5; Lk. 2:11; 1 Col. 15:3-4; 42-47; 51-52; Heb. 1:2-3; 4:14-16; 10:12; 2 Sam. 7:12-16; Zech. 14:4-11; Luke 1:30-35; 1 Thess. 5:13-18; Rev. 19:11-16; 20:6; 1 Tim. 2:5; 3:16; 1Jn. 2:1-2; 1 Pet. 1:18-19.)
God the Holy Spirit
- God the Holy Spirit reveals the Father and the Son, convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment, regenerates sinners at the moment of faith, baptizes them into Christ and the Church, indwells and seals them permanently, bestows spiritual gifts upon each one, and fills those yielded to Him. ( Jn. 3:8; 14:16; 15:26-27; 16:7-15; Acts 1:4-8; 2:1-4; 10:44; 11:16; Rom. 12:3-8; Eph. 4:30; 5:18; 1Cor. 12:4-11.)
- Certain gifts of the Spirit, such as apostleship, prophecy, and tongues were temporary, needed only in the infancy of the Church, and are not exercised for the present. This church does not embrace the charismatic gifts of tongues, signs and wonders, and new revelation. ( 1Cor 13:8-11; 1 Corinthians 14; Eph. 2:20; Rev. 22:18.)
Man
Creation
The spiritual and material universe, perfect in its original state, was brought into existence by the sovereign act of God, without evolutionary processes. God sustains all creation but exists in no necessary relationship to creation. ( Gen 1:1; Heb. 1:10-12; 11:3; Col. 1:16-17; 2 Pet. 3:12-13; Jn. 1:1-3.)
Salvation
- The basis of salvation is the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ wherein He bore on behalf of man the wrath of God toward sin through the shedding of blood. Salvation is a gift of grace, and is received by man through personal faith in Christ. ( Eph. 1:7; 2:8-9; Jn. 1:123.)
- Regeneration is that aspect of salvation called the new birth, and is that change in the soul, wrought by the Holy Spirit, by which a new nature and spiritual life, not before possessed, are inherited. (Jn. 3:3-6; 2 Col. 5:17; 1 Peter 1:23.)
- The salvation of every believer is secure for all eternity from the moment of regeneration. It is guaranteed by the fact that the life received is eternal, by the sealing ministry of the Holy Spirit, and by intercession of Christ. ( Rom 8:1; 29-30; Jn 10:27-30; Heb. 7:25; Eph 4:30.)
Sanctification
- Preparatory sanctification is that work of the Holy Spirit wherein He moves in a special, sovereign way in the life of an unbeliever, preparing that person to believe the gospel and trust Christ unto salvation. ( 1 Peter 1:1-2; Jn. 6:44.)
- Progressive sanctification is the process by which we are made partakers of His holiness; it progresses if the believer is yielded to the Spirits control; it is carried on in the soul of believers by the presence and power of the Holy Spirit through the Word of God, self-examination, watchfulness and prayer. ( 1 Thess. 4:3; 5:23; Prov. 4:18; 1 Jn. 2:29; Phil. 2:12-13; Eph. 5:18; 6:18; Gal 5:16-24; Jn 17:17.)
- Perfect, ultimate sanctification will be realized when every believer is in the presence of the Lord, with renewed soul and resurrection body united, free from every trace of sin and rebellion. ( 1 Cor. 15:52-53; Eph. 4:30; 5a;27; 1 Jn. 3:2; Phil. 4:20-21.)
The Church
- All persons, who are in this age, who are truly born again are baptized by the Holy Spirit into living union with Christ and into the universal Church which is His Body and Bride. ( Eph. 1:22-23; 5:25-27; 1 Col. 12:12-13; Gal. 3:27.)
- A local church is a visible expression of a portion of the Body of Christ, and is a congregation of baptized believers, associated by salvation in the faith and fellowship of the gospel, organized for worship, edification and evangelism, observing the ordinances of baptism and the Lord's Supper, and exercising the gifts, rights and privileges granted then by His Word. ( Acts 2:41; 14:27; 20:17; 1 Tim. 4:1-13; Titus 1:5-11; 1 Col. 3:10-17; 5:1-5; 11:2.)
- Believers recognize the responsibility to gather together regularly in corporate worship. ( Heb 10:25.)
- They accept the importance to fellowship in love with God and one another. ( 1 Jn. 1:7.)
- They labor together faithfully. ( Phil. 4:1-3.)
Ordinances
- The Lord Jesus instituted two ordinances to be observed until His return: Baptism and the Lord's Supper. These ordinances are not a means for forgiveness of sins.
- Baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, symbolizing the believers identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. ( Matt, 28:19; Acts 8:36; Rom. 6:3-6; 1 Pet. 3:21.)
- The Lord's Supper is a partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine as symbols of Christ's body and blood, commemorating His suffering and death for us and our continual benefit therefrom. Participation is open to all who have come in faith to Jesus Christ, but they are to be advised of the importance of spiritual discernment and heart attitude as Paul discussed in 1 Corinthians 11.
Marriage and family
We believe that marriage was ordained by God at creation as the sacred union of one man and one woman. All sexual relations must therefore be reserved for that union. Christian marriage is a representation of Christ's relationship to His church. We also believe that children are a blessing from the Lord. Thus, all human life is sacred and worthy of protection from the moment of conception. ( Gen. 1:26-28; 2:24; Psalm 127&128; 139:13-16; Matt. 19:1-10 1 Cor. 6:9-11; Eph. 5:22-33; Meb. 13:4.)
Final Things
- The souls of those who have trusted in Christ for salvation do at death immediately pass into His presence, and there remain in conscious bliss until the resurrection of the body at His coming, when soul and body reunited shall stand before Christ for judgement of their Christian works and the giving of rewards; and they shall then be associated with him forever in glory. ( 1 Thess. 4:13-18; 1 Col. 3:11-17; Rev. 2:1-3:22.)
- The souls of unbelievers remain after death in conscious misery until the final resurrection and judgement at the end of the millennium, when unbelievers, reunited in soul and body, will stand before Christ for judgement. The result of this judgement will be that all unbelievers will be cast into the lake of fire, not to be annihilated, but to be punished with everlasting separation from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power. ( 2Thess. 1:6-9; Rev. 20:11-15.)
- This church is in harmony with premillennial, dispensational theology.
- We believe that God tests each man in respect to obedience to some specific revelation of the will of God. These dispensations are a progressive and connected revelation of God's will, given sometimes to specific people and other times to the whole race.
- We believe that God educates us through His Word, the Bible, and that we are God's stewards.
- We are responsible to preach the Gospel, gather together regularly, have communion and be baptized in God's Spirit.
